I've started having some trouble after installing Impulse and using TweakVista. I can't say it is related to TweakVista or not, but I need to consider it. The problem is that following a restart, Vista will stop loading at C:\users\<my user administrator folder> without loading the c:\windows\explorer.exe file. Instead a windows explorer screen will appear showing the files of the user folder with a white background and no icons or taskbar. I can't access any programs or right click on the screen background. However, I can choose to move around my system hard drive in the Windows Explorer screen that loads each time. I move to my root directory and into the windows directory to choose Explorer.exe and then everything else loads normally - including Impulse.

I used to be able to access Windows from my master disk to repair a failed installation or defect caused by a damaged system file, but MS has made this much more difficult in Vista Home Pro Service Pack I. I've tried rebuilding the boot records and fixing the boot file but I still can only get to the one window and then have to complete the logon manually.

Any ideas's if this is caused by Impulse or TweakVista as it started to occur just after installation. To be fair, we had a brownout here in the desert at the time and my laptop had a dead battery which caused the drop in power to force a reboot. A boot file might have been damaged but I don't know how to fix it since Windows removed all the user friendly tools. I have used msconfig and msinfo32 to attempt to control a reboot with only the necessary drivers. No luck. I don't look forward to wiping the drive and starting over again, but if this is my only choice then I will need to let some clients down to take about four days to get everything back up from scratch.

Any help from others who may have had a simlar experience or a link to another site that might help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
